Payne Earns FLA's Best Pitcher Honor Tuesday, August 1st , 2051 An outstanding 5-1 record in July earned Cason Payne the Pitcher of the Month Award in the Florida Rookie League. When his name was penciled in to start on the Cape Coral lineup card, it meant trouble for opposing teams. In 44.1 innings of work, Payne limited opposing batters to 36 base hits and a .214 batting average. He notched 46 strikeouts, issued 9 walks and had a 2.64 ERA.
