League Punishes Pair for Fighting
Saturday, September 1st , 2063
Yesterday at Roger Dean Stadium Steny Scully and Joshua Myers got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Hollywood Spoonbills and Pembroke Pines Herons. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game.
Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Scully will have to sit out 2 while Myers would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl.
Scully is hitting .246 this year with 7 home runs, 22 RBIs and 24 runs scored. He has 46 hits in 187 at-bats, 14 walks and a .307 on-base percentage. Scully has played in 64 games.
So far this season, Myers has compiled a 0-2 won-lost mark with 9 saves and a 4.01 ERA. In 24.2 innings he has fanned 24 and opponents are hitting him at a .245 clip.
