Wilkes-Barre beat Toledo on the strength of starter Kevin Lushbaugh's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Reliever Muhammad Newman picked up the win. His record improves to 1-2. Gabe Simple took the loss. The win elevated the Barons to 18-14.

Wilkes-Barre used a clutch hit from Marvin Holts to get the win. The designated hitter drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Barons ahead, 5-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a doozy.

"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said Holts.
