Chattanooga Draws Blanks Against Clapp Tuesday, May 7th , 2052 The Chattanooga Scouts manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Shreveport Engineers. The Scouts were overpowered by Shreveport starter Dean Clapp, who hurled his club to victory, 9-0. "It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Carlos Alaniz said. Over 9 innings, Clapp blanked Chattanooga on 3 hits with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. "I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Clapp said. "I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one." Checking out his stats for the year, Clapp has racked up 4 wins and no losses in 6 starts, posted a 1.22 ERA, and struck out 28 batters in 44.1 innings. View Boxscore |
